Periodontal Disease Treatment
What is Periodontal Disease?
Periodontal disease attacks the gums and the bone that support the teeth. It’s the leading cause of tooth loss. Most people who have periodontal disease don’t even realize they have it because the disease is usually painless during the early stages. Regular visits with your dentist can lead to early detection before it becomes too serious.
How do you treat Periodontal Disease?
By properly brushing and flossing, eating a balanced diet, and regular dental visits, you can significantly reduce your risk of periodontal disease.
Our team of experts will check you for periodontal disease and recommend the appropriate treatment. The type and severity of the disease will dictate the appropriate course of action for treatment. As with any disease, the earlier it is detected, the easier it is to treat.
If the disease is caught in the early stages before damage has been done, one to two regular cleanings will be recommended. However, if it has progressed to the more advanced stages, an advanced deep cleaning treatment called scaling and root planing will likely be recommended. Scaling and root planing helps gum tissue to heal and pockets to shrink.
